The popcorn stitch is a bold, highly textured stitch that pops out from the fabric on one side. Unlike the bobble stitch, popcorn stitches are made with complete stitches that are then folded and joined, creating a rounder, more pronounced bump. Stunning in blankets and bags.
Work 5 double crochets into the same stitch.
Remove your hook from the working loop (do not pull the yarn through).
Insert your hook from front to back into the top of the first double crochet of the group.
Pick up the dropped loop and place it back on your hook.
Pull the loop through the first double crochet, drawing all five stitches together into a rounded cluster.
Chain 1 to lock the popcorn in place.
The popcorn will pop toward you โ push it to the front of the work if needed.
